There will be more designated smoking points in Nee Soon South. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said this ties in with the Government's goal to promote a healthier lifestyle for all citizens.
Speaking at a community event in the area on Sunday (Jan 25), Mr Lee said: "Nee Soon South has a project for designated smoking points. It's been running for one year, it's been working well, the residents have accepted it.
"We're going to widen it and expand the scheme. And I'm happy to be here to lend support to this, because our overall national goal is to have a healthy lifestyle for all Singaporeans."
Nee Soon South already has six designated smoking points set up in one precinct. The aim is not only to raise the number of such points across all seven precincts, but to get residents involved too.Post by Lee Bee Wah.
Dr Lee Bee Wah, MP for Nee Soon GRC, said: "It has been very well received - both from the smokers and non-smokers. So I have been receiving requests from residents to roll it out to other parts of Nee Soon South.
"That is why today we're going to announce that we're going to roll out to other parts of Nee Soon South. And as to where and the number, it depends on the residents' request."
